Why we have joy
Lesson Title: Why we have Joy

My journey through addiction started me on a path of trying to understand the universe around me. I am starting to understand philosophy. I am starting to understand the works of Alan Watts. I am starting to understand the works of Carl Jung. I am trying to find myself and find my place in this universe.
My book is free. You can read it on the website. I did not write it for money. I wrote it because it needed to be said. This is one person’s journey from addiction and madness into the hope that there is something else. I will not spoil the ending, but it has to do with hope.
I originally recorded this to explain something that happened to me in the shower. It happens often. I was thinking about why we have pain and suffering. If the universe is one, then why is there pain?
If you could ask your creator why pain exists, what would the answer be? What came to me was this.
Try to explain happiness without using contrast to the word…like the word sad. It is very difficult. You can explain it with opposites, but to explain it without you will find it very difficult. you end up needing the opposite of it, TO explain it.
Try to explain it visually with no contrast. You cannot. You cannot smile without using a frown as the contrast. You come to the point that happiness is a state of mind, something you can feel, but something you cannot express without its opposite.

That is why we have sadness. That is why we have pain. Wherever we come from, I believe it is a place of pure joy. If joy is all you know, you get tired of it. You get bored. So our Creator has given us this dimension of being. A place where we can choose to be whatever we want to be. And the only cost to appreciate the beauty of everything around us, is pain
